Infection Prevention and Control Mission Statement

To promote awareness of health care workers and coworkers, patient and visitors about the importance of infection prevention and control measures and to make it part of their daily practice to primarily prevent and secondarily contain nosocomial infections, and to ensure a safe working environment for employee and a safe environment for patients to get better.

Introduction, Hospital Organization and Policy for Infection Prevention and Control

The objective of this infection control program is to define policy and procedure regarding nosocomial infections at Al Khalidi Hospital & Medical Center. All aspects of hospital functions are included in the surveillance and prevention activities, including nursing, central sterilization supply department, laboratory, radiology, intensive critical care unit, employee health, nutrition and food services, housekeeping, maintenance, pharmacy and all clinical departments and some ancillary departments as well as the ambulances that renders services to patients. The infection prevention and control committee is empowered by the administrator to establish infection control policies and developed and implement this program.
This program is approved by infection control committee members, infection control coordinator(s), and the chairman of infection control committee and shall be updated annually and periodically as needed.

Department / Unit Description

The Infection Prevention and Control Department (IPCD) at the Hospital provides a program for improving patient care and staff well-being by identifying and reducing the risk of endemic, epidemic and healthcare related infection in patients, staff, visitors, and volunteers.
